Law Transport was founded and is owned by Lance and Diane Law. It started out as a one man, one truck operation in 1995 and has grown from there. Lance is originally from Proserpine, where his family had a cane farm. He moved to Innisfail in 1986 to play football and worked in building and construction. After moving to Charters Towers in 1989 to work at the Mount Leyshon mine driving heavy machinery, Lance and Diane had a vision to start their own company. In 1995 they returned to Innisfail and brought a truck, and that was the beginning of the Innisfail Carrying Company (and ultimately Law Transport).
In 2005 they expanded their fleet and personnel, and by 2010 boasted as many as 11 prime movers, 1 body truck and 11 employees. The business was expanding geographically too, in order to best serve a growing client base and in 2015 they had established a presence in Townsville. Two years later they moved into the Cairns market, to better serve their North Queensland clients.
In 2021 Lance and Diane decided to consolidate their three locations into a new business name, Law Transport, whilst also welcoming their son – Ryan Law – into the position as CEO. The Law family love North Queensland and are proud to provide superior transport, heavy haulage, logistics and warehousing solutions to clients large and small. Our foundations are firm and we’re excited about continuing to meet the needs of our current and future clients.
We’re proud to be the North Queensland transport, heavy haulage, logistics and warehousing professionals. Our company started in 1995, and has since expanded in size, capacity, expertise and geographical locations, to meet client demand. We currently have three depots – Innisfail (still our head office), Townsville and Cairns. Our fleet and people move across the region, as far north as Thursday Island, west to Mount Isa and everywhere in between. We’re proud to have fostered long-term relationships with clients, suppliers and staff.
As of 2021 our team includes about 50 personnel, experienced professionals in the roles of drivers, mechanics, logistics, administration and senior management. They have over 300 years of transport industry experience. But we’re the same people, providing the same customer service and same commitment to first-class transport and logistics services as we always were.
The Law Transport vision and mission is to: “Provide safe, reliable, continuous, and cost-effective service through a strong support team of logistic associates dedicated to our customers’ needs and commitment to excellence. We support staff development and assorted community events – including the Feast of the Senses – and various sporting codes and institutions including the Innisfail, Townsville and Cairns Netball and Rugby League associations and teams.”
